There are roughly two levels of odor problems.
Mild to Average problems involve
the laundry itself smelling after it is used. A 1 lb bottle should get the odor under control if you have a mild problem. You
probably run enough loads you don't need much Nu Fresh.
However, most people find this site because they have
a tough problem.
Tough problems are when the machine itself, the laundry room, or the the whole house have
odor issues. Nu fresh will clean up the machine by itself eventually. However, if you use the Nu Fresh
Shock Treatment to remove as much of the build up as possible, as quickly as possible, you will probably need less
than 2 lbs.
Once the machine is under control it does not take much Nu Fresh to continue control. 2 lbs should
last about 4-6 months with normal use. Your usage will depend on you specific situation.
The 5 lb size
is for those who use Nu Fresh by itself as fragrance free detergent for common laundry cleaning needs using hot
water. It is also the best deal for those who just want to drive down costs in this day and age. Or, just want to make
sure they don't run out.
Nu Fresh has an unlimited shelf life.

Due to popular request the buckets have been replaced with
a Nalgene screw top jar for the 2 lb size only. The jar and the 2 lb bottle each contain the same amount (32 oz).
The jar has a large opening for a scoop to give easier dispensing. The price difference is mostly the difference
in the container prices.

We continue to have reusable, heavy
duty, Nalgene camping bottles in 1lb, 2lb and 5lb sizes. The bottle cap can be used for measuring if you wish.
We use these high quality containers because they are almost the same price as disposable containers but
they can be reused for many purposes. In addition both bottles and jars are made of HDPE so they can definitely
be recycled at their ultimate end of life.
Comment: Yes, we know that the labels tend to pucker up and look bad
when they get damp. We accept the blemishes to allow us to use paper label stock -- not plastic. The glue could be stronger.
But, that would make it very difficult to remove the labels. The intention is the long term continued re-use of the containers
to reduce the pressure on landfills from disposable containers. We don't get the containers pre-printed. We want to use
the funky labels. You end up with a blank, really good container at well below market price because of the quantity we buy.

Some of the original environmental impact assumptions
turned out not to be valid.
The impossible to open bucket, was not
really all that re-useable.
Due
to popular demand it is back but it has been replaced with a Nalgene screw top jar w/scoop for easier dispensing
The original cardboard box was intended to be re-useable, but most of them arrived beat up and
were not re-used.
The box has been replaced with a USPS
envelope or box that can be recycled.
1lb, 2lb, and 5lb extremely
re-useable, heavy duty Nalgene camping bottle sizes are now available.
The heavy duty, wide mouth, Nalgene Easy Grip, HDPE bottles and jars are BPA free.
Since they are made
of HDPE they will easily be recycled at their ultimate end of life.
The
