Many new High Efficiency
(HE), front loading, laundry washing machines develop odors due to mold and mildew growth. These
smelly washers are very efficient with water and electricity use, but, they do have the odor drawback. The mold and mildew
growth are also the source of jock itch and other itching problems that seem to come and go for no particular reason. The
same with some allergy problems.
See the "Why the Smell?" tab
above for more information
The Problem:
If you only do a few loads of laundry a week, there are days where the machine just sits. The water that is left standing
in the machine has plenty of time to grow mold and mildew. If a machine is used a lot, the mold and mildew can be flushed
out before the odors become a problem. But that does not always happen.
See the "How HE Washers Work" tab above for
a more detailed explanation.
The Solution:
If you are having odor problems
I suggest you try the basic methods first. Your machine / detergent / softener combination and your use pattern may allow
these simple solutions to be effective in your situation. Simple is always better.
See the "Directions for Deodorizing Washer" tab
above for more details.
But, if you
are blessed with a high tech, high efficiency laundry system, and the other methods don't work ---
You
need to move up to another method........ Just as I needed to.
I am a retired, chemical engineer and I created
Nu Fresh because none of the other methods worked for me. I was always forgetting to do the shock treatment. Or, I ran the
shock treatment and it did not work that well. So, I came up with a material combination that did work in my situation
Now that I have something that works, I decided to offer it on the internet through this web page.
I recommend that you try Nu Fresh if other methods do not work.
See the "Real Problem" tab for a "you got to be kidding" case and testimonials.
You put a scoop in with the first load or two each week to help control odors continously.
You
will probably want to try Nu Fresh after you wash and dry and fold and put away a few loads of laundry ---- only
to find out the mildew smell returned the first time you use a towel or wear a t-shirt.
Re-washing is time consuming
--be smart.
Nu Fresh will work to keep the odors continuously under control.
